Zoom’s G2Nu / G2.1Nu Guitar Effect Pedals
Zoom one of the leading effects processor designer has recently announced two new models of their G2 guitar effect pedal. They have named it as G2Nu and G2.1Nu. The difference between the G2Nu and G2.1Nu is that the G2.1Nu has a built-in expression pedal for additional control. The redesigned drive sounds of these pedals uses most technologically advanced spectral analysis, impulse response and frequency response data, making it the most realistic models ever been created. These also have a special modelling algorithm designed specifically for line recording. Simply turning on the DIRECT key on the top panel will enable dynamic amp sounds that recreate the ideal speaker cabinet characteristics over a flat response audio system or headphones.
Both the pedals now supports direct recording to desktop/laptop via the USB port using Zoom’s own “Edit & Share” software. These new pedals come loaded with 100 preset guitar effects that authentically recreate the vintage rock sounds of the sixties and seventies, plus the styles of many famous artists. It also features 20 highly creative and versatile patches produced under the supervision of guitarist Steve Vai. 100 more patches can be created and saved right on the pedal.
These also have nine modules, ranging from standard to advanced, with 83 high-quality effects provide unsurpassed flexibility and tonal variation. You can choose through effects like the MXR Dynacomp, famed for its peculiar compression, Vox Crybaby and other renowned wah pedals, four types of chorus with great depth and ambience and six types of reverb providing transparent clarity with dynamic flangers, tremolo with selectable modulation waveform, harmonized pitch shifter, multi-tap delay, reverse delay and many more.
These have built-in 6-band graphic equalizer designed specifically for electric guitar, LCD display with LED indicators making it easier to use on a dark stage and mute tuning capabilities. These have integrated Drum Machines with 40 different rhythm patterns including 8-beat and 16-beat as well as 4-beat, shuffle and many other variations. The 5 second looper function in these are used to record, playback and overdub guitar phrases that can be controlled with the pedal. The “sound-on-sound” feature helps in laying down phrases in real time, and during live solos, the looped sound can be used as backing.
The G2Nu/G2.1Nu has an amazing patch change speed of only 5 milliseconds. These can instantly change from rhythm playing to a solo by simply pushing the switch with the muting interval during switching patches almost reduced to an absolute minimum.
The G2Nu/G2.1Nu has a sturdy metal chassis and yet still being highly compact enough to fit into the pocket of a guitar case. These pedals can use three different power sources, AC adaptor, batteries or USB bus power when plugged into the computer. For battery source, four AA / LR6 alkaline batteries are needed which can last upto 6.5 hours of continuous use.
