Open Labs Soundslate

Soundslate, a product of Open Labs, can be considered as the ultimate virtual instrument player for any keyboard workstation or MIDI controller. It incorporates Open Labs‘ music operating environment which includes the critically acclaimed virtual instrument host Riff, 8000+ of sounds and effects, a robust audio input/output system, and a powerful computer based core running on Windows XP. It also comes with a 1U-ultra compact case that absolutely looks gorgeous.

The device runs on Intel® Core2 Duo ® (2.8GHz) with a memory of 2 GB (upgradeable to 4GB). It has a storage capacity of 500 Gigabyte (upgradeable to 2TB). It also has a Slimline CD/DVD Burner drive. As for ports, Soundslate comes with eight USB 2.0, one Ethernet port (10/100/100), two DVI Video ports (1 DVI-I, 1 DVI-D) and one E-SATA port. As for the audio it supports 44.1, 48, 96, 192kHz sample rates. It has 24-bit I/O with 32-bit processing. It also packs hardware acceleration for 32-channel mixing and multi-effects processing. With the Anti-Pop speaker protection the noise gets drastically reduced during power on/off.

It has two analog line inputs with servo-balanced, DC-coupled, low-noise input circuitry and two analog line outputs with Balanced, low-noise, 3-pole low-pass differential filter. It runs on 250 Watt Power Supply with whisper quiet cooling fans and has a dimension of 19”(W) X 12”(D) X 1U(H). But this device does not come cheap. It comes with a hefty price tag of approximately $2000.
