Nokia N8

Nokia N8 is the next generation of Symbian phone that is powered by the brand new Symbian^3 which is a fully open source version of the Symbian platform. The unique selling point of this device is its 12-megapixel camera powered by Carl Zeiss optics with a Xenon flash. For the first time it features a substantially larger sensor than any other Nokia device (even bigger than many dedicated cameras).  The Nokia N8 has the capability to record high definition (HD) videos editable by a smart built-in editing suite on the device. The playback quality of this device is superb with a 3.5-inch HD capacitive touchscreen. It can be used as a portable entertainment centre by using its in-built HDMI connector to connect the smartphone to any HD enabled TV for viewing videos in HD quality and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. It can also be hooked to a dedicated Web TV application for access to news and entertainment on the move.

Nokia N8 is powered by an all-new Symbian^3 open source platform. For the first time the feature of multi-touch support and gestures such as pinch-to-zoom has been introduced. N8 has three customizable homescreens that can be loaded with applications & widgets which can be flicked through. It also comes with an improved 2D & 3D graphics for a faster & more responsive UI, greater memory management and a visual task manager. The N8 is location-savvy and comes with free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation that is supported in more than 70 countries worldwide. It can access the full range of Ovi services and is Nokia’s first smartphone to be integrated with Qt which is a software development environment that promotes building of new apps across the Symbian and other software platforms. The N8 also provides the ability for live Twitting and Facebooking direct at its homescreen. This involves commenting, reading and sending messages, updating statuses and sharing ones location and photos with one touch.

Nokia N8 packs more memory than most of the Nokia devices. It has a built in 16GB of storage which is expandable up to 48GB with a micro SD card. It is carved from a single piece of anodized aluminium and is available in five eye-catching colours. The estimated price of this device is around 22000/- INR in India and approximately €370 in Europe and will start shipping in the third quarter of 2010.
