Nokia E72

As an upgrade to E71, Nokia is bringing its latest eye catcher the E72. The Nokia E72 is pretty much similar to E71 with some added functionalities and improved performance. Though the E72 design have been inherited from E71 but when looked closely it seems that Nokia got a little inspired by blackberry bold with the side chrome border in its new design. E72Nokia E72 is the perfect smartphone or PDA for any business individual on the go. It weighs just 128 grams and has a form thickness of 10mm. The four corners are rounded quite a bit and the Querty keyboard is positioned a bit lower than its predecessor Nokia E71. The 600 Mhz processor as compared to 369 Mhz processor of E61 brings it to a category of the fastest symbian phone ever made.

Like its predecessors E72 can easily last over 6 and a half hours with constant GPS navigation turned on and it can last over 5 hours with continuous web surfing. It also provides nearly 12 hours of talktime, 32 hours of music playback and 8 hours of video playback. In WiFi standby mode it can operate well over 110 hours straight without any need of additional battery charge. E72 comes with a MicroSD card of 4GB in it and over 250MB of internal phone memory. It also comes with Optical Navi Keys that are tailor made in a way which allows to control them with fingers without looking at the keypad. The dedicated one touch access keys, just like E71, gives instant access to Home, Calendar, USB, E-Mail, Volume etc. and also like E71 it has a 320×240 QVGA TFT screen. The main USP of E72 is that it supports accelerometer based mobile applications and games with or without bluetooth.

Though with an E-Series tag, this phone is as much media oriented as it is business oriented in nature, it comes with a one touch auto focus compatible 5 MP camera with a Flash which is much higher and better in quality than its predecessor E71. It can easily adjust or tweak itself when moving objects are snapped, thus eliminating blurred images altogether. The video recording quality of the Nokia E72 camera is similar to that of N97 and allows recording moving objects at a rate of 15 frames/sec with a max dimension of 640×480 pixels. The Series 60 Internet browser of E72 symbian OS supports nearly all types of websites and blogs and can display & render flash based graphics websites without the need of other plugins or software.

E72 is compatible with Microsoft Exchange E-Mail systems and the Lotus Notes Traveler which makes it a powerful device to manage all your e-mail accounts and their respective attachments centrally from your E72 PDA device. A number of new and innovative smart functions such as bulk SMS deletion, undo deletion, Text-to-Speech reader, concatenated or long messages (10 messages chained into 1 without breaking off) support etc are all built in with the E72 to make it more efficient. E72 comes with built in Nokia applications such as Windows Live Instant Messenger, OVI contacts, Microsoft ActiveSync, Nokia OVI Maps, Nokia Mobile VPN client, new incoming E-Mail notifications etc. Also, like E71 it has a FM Radio built in and can operate through PTT (Push to Talk) technology. E72 also supports audio streaming (Last.FM) and video streaming (like YouTube) sites. The HSDPA internet data speed of E72 is 10.6 mbps which is greater than 3.6 mbps of E71 but it also offers HSUPA at 2mbps. Also E72 supports high speed A2DP EDR connectivity for its Bluetooth device connections and tags along with a stereo 3.5mm audio jack port for music.

In true sense the E72 is here to challenge the Blackberry’s dominance on corporate smart phone market with gazillion new features and functionality which a Blackberry user can only dream about having it in their device. It’s a true blend of a trendy design, numerous features and quite frankly an affordable price (unlike Blackberry) like any other E series phones of Nokia.
