BlackBerry Bold
The BlackBerry 9000 or commonly known as Blackberry Bold developed by Research In Motion, is the new entrant in the smartphone arena. The BlackBerry Bold comes with a 2 megapixel camera with an LED flash. It has an internal GPS incorporated in it.
The Bold’s body is somewhat half an inch thick and weighs approximately five ounces. However, with its elegantly black exterior, satin chrome finish and leatherette-bound back, the device
is clearly a luxurious upgrade from its predecessors. It’s display has a vivid 2.75-inch half-VGA resolution with 480×320 pixel color and can be considered as the best display ever have been built on any phone. Below the screen is the Blackberry trackball as well as start, current menu, previous screen and stop buttons. The improved QWERTY keyboard is backlit for use and features raised keys that actually help in typing without looking at the pad. The device also features two volume keys and a camera quick key on the right and a headphone jack and sync/charge jack/mini USB on the left. The quick keys can be set to open any applications.
The BlackBerry Bold also comes with a 128 MB Flash memory with a 1 GB on-board storage memory. It has also facility for microSD/SDHC memory card slot that is conveniently accessible from a side door. Among other key features it has inbuilt 802.11a/b/g WiFi for speedy Internet surfing. Additionally the device further offers tethered modem capability. The Bold can be considered as the fastest Blackberry till date. Running on a 624-MHz processor with a 3G network the device allows to easily jump from web browser to incoming messages and then to a phone call without skipping a beat.
Multimedia playback is definitely one of the core features of the new Bold. Media Sync option allows transferring iTunes music files to the smartphone with ease. Also the sound quality of the speakerphone is like nothing anyone has ever heard before on any mobile handset.
The Blackberry Bold 9000 retails for 31000 INR approximately, which is admittedly quite a lot for any smartphone in India. In the end, the Blackberry Bold is by far the most elegant smartphone RIM has ever created with a sleek design, speedy 3G network, easy to use WordToGo app and a robust media offering.
